But if you are told that this facility is also available in an ancient temple located at an altitude of 2455 meters above sea level in a hilly region, then you will hardly believe it. But now you will see this in Himachal Pradesh.

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Thursday inaugurated the Himachal Pradesh first outdoor escalators at Hanuman Temple in Jakhu. In order to make the movement of people comfortable in the ancient Hanuman temple situated at an altitude of 2455 meters above sea level, four newly constructed escalators have been constructed by Schindler India at a cost of Rs 7 crore 94 lakh. A maximum of 6 thousand devotees will be able to travel on these escalators per hour.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that it has been built by Ropeway and Rapid Transport System Development Corporation under the Smart City Project at a cost of about Rs 8 crore. At a height of 8054 feet, it is Asia’s first two-span, 48 meter long escalator. Now it will take only 1.5 minutes from the parking lot of Jakhu temple to the idol installed in the temple premises. The Chief Minister said that with these escalators, the devotees have got the facility of easy darshan of Hanuman Temple. For the safety of devotees, safety brakes and LED lights have been installed on both sides of the escalators.
