According to the Indian Meteorological Department and the Ministry of Earth Science, Koksar in Himachal Pradesh recorded snowfall today. Rainfall was observed at many locations across the state. Tinder received the highest rainfall at 13mm. Reckong PEO, Bhuntar, Khadrala, Moorang, and Sainj had the lowest rainfall at 1mm. Other notable rainfall amounts include Kothi with 10mm, Kukumasheri with 9mm, Jubbal and PTO Koksar with 8mm each, Keylong with 6mm, Bharmaur, Banjar, and Sangla with 4mm each, Kalpa with 3mm, and Theog, Rohru, Nichar, and Shimla 2mm each. The Lahaul & Spiti Police have released the latest weather and road status update as of 31st May 2024, 8:00 AM. Keylong, Kaza, Sumdo, Udaipur, Tindi, Sissu, North Portal, and South Portal are experiencing partly cloudy to cloudy weather. Roads through these regions are fully accessible. Specifically, the Rohtang to Darcha route, and the Darcha to Shinkula road are open. Additionally, the SKTT road from Tandi to Kadhu Nallah is operational. Travelers are advised to note that the Gramphu to Lossar route is open as per the advisory, and the Sumdo to Lossar road is also open. The South Portal to Darcha to Shinkula/Sarchu route is open but only one-way from Darcha to Sarchu. The District Disaster Management Authority of Lahaul & Spiti has issued a travel advisory for NH-505 Kaza to Gramphu Road as of 31st May 2024. The NH 505 Kaza-Gramphu road is open for 4×4 vehicles and bikes from both directions, but only between 7:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Drivers should be cautious as the route from Gramphu to Lossar is prone to rock falls and avalanches. The Police Department is managing traffic, and the movement of vehicles is contingent on weather and road conditions. Travelers must ensure their vehicles are in good condition and fully equipped before setting out. Unnecessary stoppages on the route should be avoided, and hotel and homestay owners should inform their guests of these guidelines.
