Himachal: The Script Of Victory In Rajya Sabha Elections Was Already Written Before Harsh Mahajan Filed His Nomination

With the filing of nomination by Harsh Mahajan, BJP had written the script of its victory in the Rajya Sabha elections. By giving central leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi as their candidate, the Congress leaders were assuming that he would be unanimously selected as has been the tradition in the last few elections, but suddenly the opposition surprised them by making Harsh Mahajan their candidate. BJP’s trump card in the form of Harsh was revealed to be such that it has created a big problem for the one year old Sukhu government.

The government could not control the damage in time. Its intelligence system also completely failed in political reconnaissance. In fact, this game was played by taking disgruntled MLAs like Rajinder Rana, Sudhir Sharma lightly. This leader was angry from the beginning due to not getting a place in the cabinet and had been showing signs of his displeasure for a long time. He was also giving such signals through his posts on social media. Harsh Mahajan, the chief strategist of former Chief Minister late Virbhadra Singh, has also been called the Chanakya of politics. He also had good personal relations with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, but he came in his way. Political experts were assuming that there could be a background behind Harsh entry into the field. There have been examples of many states for this.
