Despite Himachal Pradesh Congress having majority, the Rajya Sabha seat has gone to BJP. If the budget is not passed with majority, the problems of the Sukhu government may increase. Budget session is going on in the state. The budget for the financial year 2024-25 is to be passed in the Assembly on Thursday.

While passing the budget, the opposition can ask for division in the House. In such a situation, if voting takes place then problems may increase if votes are not cast in favor of the government. The government may be in trouble if the Finance Bill is defeated.

However, the Chief Minister has denied such a possibility. The leader of the House will have to prove majority to pass the budget in the Assembly. Congress and BJP have tied for Rajya Sabha by garnering the support of 34-34 MLAs.

If this support continues then it will make it difficult to pass the budget. The Speaker of the Assembly also has a vote for the Rajya Sabha, but this vote can be cast while passing the budget only when there is a tie on both sides.

6 Congress party and 3 independent MLAs have cross-voted in favor of the BJP candidate. This MLA is in Panchkula under police protection. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu presented a budget of Rs 58 thousand 444 crore for the financial year 2024-25 on January 14. In this, the estimated growth rate of the state economy was shown as 7.1 percent, while per capita is estimated at Rs 2 lakh 34 thousand, 199. At the same time, the gross domestic product of the state is estimated at Rs 2 lakh 7 thousand 430 crore.
