Crisis is Not Over Yet in Himachal, Danger Remains!
Shimla, March 01: The Congress government in Himachal Pradesh has currently got Sanjeevani, but doubts still remain regarding the effectiveness of Sanjeevani. After the defeat in the Rajya Sabha elections, the Central Observer of the Congress Party met the MLAs of both the factions and listened to them. Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda and Himachal Pradesh in-charge Rajiv Shukla said, all differences have been resolved. As per the orders of the Congress Party High Command, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will remain the CM. BJP’s Operation Lotus has currently failed. Sources associated with the central unit of the Congress Party say that at present the Congress high command is keeping an eye on Himachal Pradesh. The way former BJP Chief Minister Jairam Thakur is giving statements that this government will not survive, the Congress party has taken him seriously. If Congress does not perform well in the Lok Sabha elections, then there is every possibility of a storm of ‘Operation Lotus-2’ after 90 days.

Congress party sources said that despite Congress having absolute majority in Himachal Pradesh, losing the Rajya Sabha elections is no less than a big shock for the party high command. Congress had 40 MLAs in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly. BJP has 25 MLAs. The support of three independent MLAs was claimed. The cross-voting in the Rajya Sabha elections had ruined the mathematics of the Congress. BJP candidate has won. As a result, Congress has canceled the membership of six of its MLAs. Now Congress has 34 MLAs left in the assembly.
In the political crisis of Himachal Pradesh, the party high command had decided to take action against many people including Chief Minister Sukhu, but due to the Lok Sabha elections, that action has been postponed.
Sources in the Congress Party say that due to internal factionalism in Himachal Pradesh, one Rajya Sabha seat has been lost. All the MLAs whose membership has been canceled are said to be supporters of Pratibha Singh and Vikramaditya Singh. Now action has been taken against them. This is a big loss for Pratibha Singh.
In such a situation, the Pratibha Singh camp is not completely satisfied yet. The lifeline given to Himachal Pradesh is not permanent. Its effect is going to be seen after the next 90 days. If Congress does not get success in the Lok Sabha elections, then ‘Operation Lotus-2’ cannot be ruled out. The Congress high command has asked both the camps to focus on the Lok Sabha elections. Congress observers have gauged the mood of the MLAs whether they are ready to go to the assembly elections. All the MLAs have refused this.
Former BJP CM Jairam Thakur is completely confident about his strategy. He says that Congress MLAs are angry with the Sukhu government. Sooner or later this government is sure to fall. BJP’s Harsh Mahajan, who won the Rajya Sabha, says that cancellation of membership of MLAs will not stop the opposition in Congress. It is certain that BJP government will be formed in Himachal Pradesh.
