The important thing is that two MLAs from CM Sukhu’s home district Hamirpur rebelled. The spark arose from his own district. Rajinder Rana from Sujanpur and MLA ID Lakhanpal from Badsar voted against the party in the Rajya Sabha elections. At the same time, two MLAs belong to Una, the home district of the state’s Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri. These include Chaitanya Sharma and Devendra Kumar Bhutto.

Shimla, February 28: The rebel Congress leaders in Himachal have played a game which was never played before in the hilly state, by putting their membership in the Assembly at stake. It is a different matter that the “Sukhu government” succeeded in averting the danger. Trolling people are also writing, “There was a lot of mud, but the lotus did not bloom”.

Although the danger of the government falling has been averted, the question that is flashing in everyone’s mind is why the leaders adopted a rebellious tone. Talking about parliamentary constituency, 4 out of 6 MLAs are from CM Sukhu’s own parliamentary constituency Hamirpur. These include Rajinder Rana of Sujanpur, Badsar MLA ID Lakhanpal, Una youth MLA Chaitanya Sharma and Kutlaihar assembly constituency MLA Devendra Kumar Bhutto. In such a situation, Congress is looking weak from Hamirpur parliamentary constituency in the Lok Sabha elections.

The country’s Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur is the MP from here. Meanwhile, Sudhir Sharma belongs to Kangra parliamentary constituency, while Ravi Thakur belongs to Mandi parliamentary constituency.

In a special Himachal Political Turmoil, we are going to give you information related to the background of the rebel Congress MLAs…

Rajinder Rana

Rajinder Rana, who was in BJP, was a disciple of former CM and Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal. There was a time when Rajinder Rana used to handle the responsibility of election management of Dhumal. But, swords crossed between the Guru and the disciple. In 2017, Rajinder Rana came into the national media headlines when he defeated BJP’s CM candidate and his guru in the assembly elections. In 2022 also, he won the election from Sujanpur seat on Congress ticket. The ambition must have been to be made a cabinet minister. In the current political trend, Rajinder Rana is talking about joining BJP, but the question also arises whether that person will be able to tolerate Rajinder Rana returning to BJP, due to which he had lost the CM’s chair. Born on 6 April 1966, Rana was the state spokesperson of BJP from 2006 to 2012 and was also the chairman of the State Media Advisory Committee in the Dhumal government. It is possible that the pain of not getting a ministerial post may have created the rebellion.

Sudhir Sharma

Although Dharamshala MLA Sudhir Sharma is considered a decent leader. Late Virbhadra Singh, who was Chief Minister six times, was also in the good books. In September 2019, he had refused to contest the by-election of Dharamshala Assembly. At that time he was also the Secretary of All India Congress Committee. Sudhir had blamed the state organization for not contesting the elections. In 2019, after Sukhvinder Sukhu, Kuldeep Rathore took charge of the state Congress. During this time too, speculations about Sudhir Sharma joining BJP had intensified. It was even said that Sudhir had refused to contest the elections due to the possibility of defeat in the by-elections.

BJP’s Vishal Naihariya won the by-election, Congress’s Vijay Inder Karan got the third position. In 2017, Sudhir Sharma lost the election to Kishan Kapoor. Sudhir won two elections from Baijnath. Scored a hat-trick of wins from Dharamshala in 2012. Won the elections for the fourth time in 2022 after 10 years. Sudhir Sharma is 51 years old.

ID Lakhanpal

ID Lakhanpal, born on 27 October 1962, became MLA for the first time in 2012. Also elected in 2017. Also held the post of Chief Parliamentary Secretary from 2013 to 2017. Scored a hat-trick of victories in 2022. ID Lakhanpal is also recognized in Congress because he kept winning elections from the BJP stronghold.

Certainly, ID Lakhanpal will also be disappointed by not getting an important position despite winning the elections from the home district of Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur for the third consecutive time. It is a different matter that in 2022, Congress had performed better in Hamirpur than in the 2017 elections. Sukhu also won from Nadaun.

ID Lakhanpal Was a councilor in Shimla Municipal Corporation from 1997 to 2002. After this he also became a nominated councilor. He was also the chief organizer of Himachal Pradesh Congress Seva Dal from 2008 to 2013. Apart from this he also held important positions. Due to being associated with Seva Dal, He is also gaining ground.

Chaitanya Sharma

Chaitanya Sharma, the youngest MLA of Himachal Assembly, is the son of former Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand Rakesh Sharma. Highly educated Chaitanya Sharma had contested elections for the first time and after winning, he also reached the assembly. The reason behind Chaitanya Sharma adopting a rebellious tone is being said to be neglect and slow pace of development works in his constituency. Experts also say that Chaitanya Sharma wanted to contest the elections at any cost, hence if BJP had given him a ticket in the elections, he could have contested the elections on BJP ticket also. At the same time, lack of experience and maturity in politics is also being considered as the reason for his adopting a rebellious tone against the party.

Ravi Thakur

Ravi Thakur, who has been MLA from Lahaul Spiti twice, has also adopted a rebellious tone. The biggest reason for this is believed to be that he was not given the post of Tribal Minister. On this matter, Kinnaur MLA and senior leader Jagat Singh Negi was crowned. Ravi Thakur was also hoping to become a minister. But when his demands were not met, he was also seen speaking against the government. Once Ravi Thakur had also said in an open forum that anger among the public against the state government had increased. He also seemed unhappy with the development work being done in the tribal district Lahaul Spiti. Ravi Thakur said that development work is not being done in the district as per the expectations of the people. Due to which he turned towards BJP.

Devendra Kumar Bhutto

Everyone is surprised by the rebellious tone of Devendra Kumar Bhutto, who has handed over Kutlahar assembly constituency to Congress after 32 years. However, he left BJP and joined Congress in 2017. The important thing is that Bhutto had reached the assembly after giving a tough defeat to Virendra Kanwar, a prominent BJP leader of Himachal and a cabinet minister in the former Jairam government. The biggest reason for his rebellious tone is believed to be his closeness to BJP. Before joining Congress, he had been in BJP for 25 years, which is probably why he cross-voted for the Rajya Sabha candidate. He was not in discussion for the post of minister, but perhaps he could not forget his old house, that is why he joined the Rust camp.
