Himachal News : State’s Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri met Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in New Delhi yesterday. He apprised the Union Minister about the damage caused due to heavy rains and landslides in Himachal Pradesh.
He informed that so far the loss of Rs 1,630 crore has been assessed to the Jal Shakti Department in the state. He asked the central government to immediately release an amount of Rs 500 crore for the restoration of damaged schemes of the department. urged to
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said that the maximum damage has been estimated in the state along the Beas river. Beas river basin has a history of such disasters and the Jal Shakti Department has prepared a detailed report of one thousand six hundred and ninety nine crore rupees for its channelisation. which is under review by the Central Water Commission.
The Deputy Chief Minister thanked Union Minister Gajendrasinh Shekhawat for sanctioning investment of Rs.643 crore in Kangra district, Rs.349 crore for Fena Singh irrigation project and channelization of Swarna river.
The Union Minister directed the concerned officials to work on priority on the issues raised by the Deputy Chief Minister. Also raising the issue of the Kisahu Dam project, urged the state to resolve issues related to electricity prices.
