Shimla, June 19: In Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla, French bean crop is grown mostly in sub-divisional area Junga and this year, due to the flourishing of crops before monsoon, farmers are happy as they are getting good prices for French beans.

It is worth mentioning that after Solan district of Himachal Pradesh, the demand crops like French beans, tomatoes, garlic, capsicum etc. are produced in huge quantities in Junga sub-divisional area of ​​Shimla district.

Due to farmers getting good prices for French beans before the monsoon, not only is the economy improving, but farmers are also trying their hand in the field of food processing.

Let us tell you that in the year 2024, the maximum price of French beans was recorded at Rs 120 per kg in Himachal Pradesh’s largest vegetable market Solan and Dhali.

Due to the shortage of water in water sources, French beans are being sold in the markets at the rate of Rs 50-60 per kilogram. Due to this, farmers are not getting the right price as the prices of French beans have fallen.Due to the heatwave, the moisture in the French bean crop is not breaking properly, due to which the pods of French beans have become small and spoiled. Farmers are watering the crops with their water tankers.

Good yield of French beans has been recorded in many areas of Solan and Sirmaur district adjoining Junga.

French bean producing farmer Ankush told that French beans are grown in two varieties, the first one is Jhambe French beans which are available cheap and the second one is Phalguni French beans which are grown in high quality and are available at a high price. Ankush told that the French bean crop is getting ready in a minimum of 40 days, in which farmers are getting good profit with less hard work.

Vegetable market expert Rajjesh told that in Himachal Pradesh’s biggest vegetable market Dhali French bean is being sold at a price of 50 to 80 rupees per kilogram.

Another Vegetable market expert Suman told that due to French beans reaching Solan vegetable market from all areas of Himachal Pradesh, French beans are being sold at a price of 40 to 60 rupees per kilogram.

According to Suman, the rate of French beans depends more on its variety. But this time farmers are getting good prices for French beans.
