In addition to the medal, Dr. Krishnalal Sehgal has also been awarded a cash amount of Rs 1 lakh in the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.

Dr. Krishna Lal Sehgal, a famous folk singer of Rajgarh region and a prominent place in music, has devoted his entire life to Himachali folk music. Dr. Krishna Lal Sehgal has so far composed more than a hundred Pahari songs and made dozens of audios and videos and has also sung on All India Radio and Doordarshan. Dr. Krishna Lal Sehgal has also published a book of his folk songs ‘Geet Meri Mati Re’. In the book ‘Geet Meri Mati Re’, Pahari songs have been written with notation and this first book with notation is proving to be very useful for Himachali folk music learners. Dr. Krishna Lal Sehgal has also been honored with district and state level honors by many music serving organizations. Dr. Krishna Lal Sehgal has been given ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ by Himalayan Literature, Culture and Environment Forum, Shimla for his outstanding contribution in the field of Himachali folk music.
Dr. Krishna Lal Sehgal is a PhD in Vocal Music and Dr. Krishna Lal Sehgal has obtained the degrees of Sangeet Visharad in singing and playing from Ancient Art Center, Chandigarh and Sangeet Praveen in Vocal Music from Allahabad.
Dr. Krishna Lal Sehgal is among the high ranking artists of Akashvani Shimla and Doordarshan. Dr. Krishna Lal Sehgal retired from the post of Associate Professor (Vocal Music) from Himachal College Cadre in the year 2008. Dr. Krishna Lal Sehgal late mother had worked in films in Lahore in the pre-independence era, while his father was also famous in music.
