Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, March 15: Cyber crime cases are increasing in Himachal Pradesh. Cyber criminals are deceiving people by inventing new methods. Recently, two people have become victims of such cyber fraud, where miscreants had duped them into earning money sitting at home. Both of them were cheated of about Rs 32.80 lakh. Cyber Police has kept the names of both the complainants secret. In both the cases, cyber criminals had tricked the victims into completing the task of giving ratings on Google.

Out of two complaints, one complaint has been received by Cyber Police from Shimla district. In which the complainant, lured by the greed of completing the rating task on Google, deposited Rs 16.30 lakh in the accounts of cyber thugs. At the same time, the second complaint has been received from District Solan, in which the complainant, out of greed, deposited approximately Rs 16.50 lakh in the accounts of cyber thugs. In both these complaints, IPC section 420 and IT Act 66-D have been registered.

The special thing is that by taking immediate action, Cyber Crime Police Station Shimla has seized Rs 7,73,594 in the accounts of cyber thugs and the investigation in the case is going on to arrest the cyber criminals.

SP Cyber Crime Bhupendra Negi said that some people want to become rich quickly without working hard and want to earn money quickly or double the money. Cyber criminals are taking direct advantage of this. Cyber criminals are sending messages to earn money through WhatsApp and Telegram and people are falling prey to them.

He told that cyber fraudsters ask people to do simple tasks like giving rating on Google and trick them into depositing money. People fall into their trap and deposit more money due to the fear of losing their money. He said that in case of cyber fraud, anyone can lodge a complaint on toll free number 1930.
