Himachal News: Cooperative Society Of Bamboo Growers Will Be Formed, Doors Of Employment Will Open

The Government of Himachal Pradesh will form a cooperative society for the bamboo growers in Himachal Pradesh, so that the products manufactured by the bamboo growers can get recognition in the market and the economy of the bamboo growers can also improve. This was said by Himachal Pradesh Government TCP, Housing and Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani while addressing a one-day workshop organized by JICA Forestry Project in Ghumarwin assembly constituency on Saturday.
Rajesh Dharmani said that the whole thought was coming in his mind for many years that considering the hard work of bamboo growers, there is a need to do something new for bamboo growers in Himachal Pradesh. Himachal Pradesh government will extend all possible support to improve the economy of bamboo growers. Cabinet Minister Rajesh Dharmani said that JICA had been discussing with Nagesh Kumar Guleria, Chief Project Director of Forestry Project, for a year that they needed to make a new plan so that bamboo growers communities get better opportunities to earn livelihood.
The cooperative society that will be formed for the bamboo growers will automatically be its owner. Places are going to be identified for self-help groups near the National Highway of Himachal Pradesh to sell the products of bamboo growers.
Cabinet Minister Rajesh Dharmani said that bamboo products will also open doors to employment. He said that a budget of Rs 1 crore has been proposed for this project by JICA Forestry Project, which is going to be further increased. Cabinet Minister Rajesh Dharmani said that I have seen bamboo growers working hard. Bamboo growers can be taken on exposure visit to IHBT Palampur. He said that the earnings of bamboo growers are going to be visible in the upcoming next two years in front of us.
Yogesh Shinde, Founder and CEO of Bamboo India, has given detailed information about how bamboo growers can earn livelihood and strengthen their economy through bamboo products made from bamboo. Dr. Kaushalya Kapoor, Program Manager of JICA Forestry Project, subject matter expert Dr. Ulshida, FTU Coordinator, representatives of various self-help groups were present. On this occasion, Dr. SK Kapta, biodiversity expert of JICA Forestry Project, CCF Bilaspur Anil Sharma, Som Prakash Sankhyan and other officers and employees of the forest department were present. Deputy Director of Agriculture Department, Dr. Shashipal has informed about Bamboo Mission. Bamboo saplings have also been purchased from IHBT Palampur.

Nagesh Kumar Guleria, Chief Project Director of JICA Forestry Project, while addressing the workshop, said that this project is going to make every possible effort for the producers dependent on bamboo. He said that the project has a budget of Rs 1 crore in the first phase, which is going to be further increased. Guleria said that machines will also be provided to improve bamboo operations, so that the products of bamboo growers can be sold not only in Himachal Pradesh but in every corner of the country.
