Himachal: Gods and Goddesses are Real Owners of Apple Orchards, Temple Trust is Earning Lakhs of Rupees

Harish Chauhan, former trustee of Hateshwari Mata Mandir Committee, says that new apple trees have been planted in six hectares of garden. At present, Hateshwari Mata Mandir Trust is earning around Rs 8 to 12 lakh annually from the apple tree. When fully ready after five years, the income is expected to reach Rs 25 to 30 lakhs annually.

In Devbhoomi Himachal Pradesh, not only the gardeners but also the gods and goddesses have apple orchards on many bighas of land. These gods and goddesses are the owners of property worth crores.

Be it Domeshwar deity Guthan under Theog tehsil of Shimla district or Gudaru Maharaj, the deity of Rohru, Gawas is the owner of apple orchards.

Not only this, Hateshwari Mata Hatkoti of Jubbal also has an apple orchard. Lakhs of rupees are earned every year from these gardens.

Apart from the traditional Royal Apple, Domeshwar Devta Guthan also has a modern orchard with high density technology from Italy and America.

Mohammad Madan Lal Verma of Devta Committee says that there are about 400 apple plants in the orchard which is being planted on high density technique. Garden has been planted by bringing apple saplings from local nurseries. Apart from this, there is also a big orchard of traditional Royal variety of apples. The deity also has a protected forest.

Rohru’s deity Gudaru Maharaj Gawas has a big garden on 80 bighas of land. Gudaru temple committee secretary Thakur Singh told Diary Times correspondent Kumud Sharma that there are more than 1,500 apple trees in the big orchard, while there are two more orchards of 5 to 10 bighas. The temple committee earns an annual income of Rs 15 to 20 lakh from these.

In Himachal Pradesh, farmers and gardeners offer first crop to the gods. It is also believed that gods and goddesses are real owners of the land of farmers and gardeners.

Gods and Goddesses visit their area at regular intervals, which is called ‘Dhawala Yatra’.

During ‘Dhawala Yatra’ all gods and goddesses sit on their lands and bless the farmers and gardeners with happiness and prosperity.
