Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Hamirpur, April 10: Five rooms of three families were burnt to ashes due to a sudden fire in a residential slotted house in Rahwin village, about five kilometers away from Bhoranj sub-division of Hamirpur district. In the incident, all the stuff kept inside the rooms was burnt to ashes. The families affected by the fire incident are estimated to suffer a loss of around Rs 6 lakh.

The incident happened late Tuesday evening. Due to short circuit inside the house, four slotted rooms of brothers Balveer Singh, son of Kirpu Ram and Kulveer Singh, son of Kirpu Ram were completely burnt to ashes. Adjacent to this, a room in the slate house of Garib Das son of Shyama Ram has also suffered a lot of damage. Due to this incident of arson, all the things kept inside the house like jewellery, bed, cash, grains and utensils were burnt to ashes.

However, seeing the strong flames, the local people tried to extinguish the fire. As soon as the information was received, the fire brigade vehicle also reached the spot, but due to the house being in the middle of the village and lack of road, it could not be used. Fire man Virendra Kumar, Havildar Ravi Kumar, home guard Vipin Kumar also tried to extinguish the fire, but failed.

On the other hand, Panchayat head Rajesh Sharma said that there is an estimated loss of around Rs 6 lakh due to the incident. The local Halka Patwari has made a report of the loss and sent it to higher authorities.
