Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, June 09 :After the announcement of the results of the Lok Sabha elections and assembly by-elections in Himachal Pradesh, as soon as the Election Commission lifted the model code of conduct, the ruling Congress government of Himachal Pradesh issued a notification on Sunday to give cabinet rank status to Kehar Singh Khachi, a senior leader of Himachal Pradesh Congress and especially a close aide of Congress party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.Let us tell you that in the month of March 2023, Kehar Singh Khachi was appointed as the Vice President of Himachal Pradesh State Forest Development Corporation Limited by the Himachal Pradesh Government itself, And now Kehar Singh Khachi’s arbitrariness has increased so much that getting cabinet rank after only fourteen months on the post of Vice President of Himachal Pradesh State Forest Development Corporation Limited raises big questions.
According to the notification issued by the Himachal Pradesh government, Kehar Singh Khachi, Vice President of State Forest Development Corporation Limited and a close associate of Congress Party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, will now be a cabinet rank minister.
It is worth noting that Kehar Singh Khachi has worked on many posts in the Congress party and the biggest reason for getting cabinet rank is believed to be his close association with Congress Party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
Also, during the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections of the year 2022, Kehar Singh Khachi was considered a contender for the Congress Party ticket from Theog Assembly constituency of Shimla district, But later his name could not be approved.
In the Sukhu government, Congress leaders of Shimla district have the highest cabinet rank status –
Kehar Singh Khachi, who got cabinet rank in the ruling Sukhu government of Himachal Pradesh, belongs to Theog Assembly Constituency of Shimla district. Apart from him, the number of Congress leaders getting cabinet rank from Shimla district is not less. In the current Congress government, three cabinet ministers Vikramaditya Singh, Anirudh Singh and Rohit Thakur come from Shimla district. Also, MLA Mohan Brakta from Rohru Assembly Constituency has got the status of Chief Parliamentary Secretary (CPS). Apart from this, MLA Nand Lal from Rampur Assembly Constituency also gets the status of cabinet rank along with being the Chairman of the Seventh Finance Commission, And CM’s media advisor Naresh Chauhan from Shimla district is included in the cabinet rank.
One ministerial post is still vacant in the Congress government –
After the removal of the Model Code of Conduct in the state, in the coming days, the government is going to expand the cabinet and make a large number of appointments on the vacant posts in various corporations and boards as well as other departments, due to which many senior leaders of Himachal Pradesh Congress Party are lobbying.
The most important thing is that one ministerial post is still vacant in the Himachal Pradesh cabinet. Also, appointments are going to be made on the posts of Chief Whip, Food Supply Corporation and Chairman of HIMFED.
Let us tell you that before the imposition of the Model Code of Conduct for the Lok Sabha elections in Himachal Pradesh, CM Sukhu had issued a notification to appoint Nand Lal, who is considered close to Holly Lodge and MLA from Rampur Assembly constituency, as the Chairman of the Seventh Finance Commission and Bhawani Singh Pathania, MLA from Fatehpur Assembly constituency of Kangra district, as the Vice Chairman of the State Planning Board as well as giving him cabinet rank status.
