Heliports: Budget Of Rs 52 Crore Approved For Four Heliports Of Himachal
Heliports are going to be built in four assembly constituencies of Himachal Pradesh under the UDAN-5.1 Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) of the Government of India. A budget of Rs 52 crore has been released from the Central Government for the heliport under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS). Rs 13 crore is going to be spent on the construction work of each heliport. The place for the heliport has been selected at Rakkad, Palampur near Dharamshala assembly constituency under Kangra district and Reckong Peo in Chamba and Kinnaur district .

RCS Manager of Airport Authority of India, Atulya Agarwal has sent a letter in this regard to the Principal Secretary of Tourism and Civil Aviation Department of Himachal Pradesh regarding budget approval. On October 26, 2023, the Government of Himachal Pradesh had sent a letter related to the budget for the construction of these heliports to the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India. The Project Evaluation Committee had approved the budget for these four heliports in the meeting held on January 15, 2024.
Now the Airport Authority of India, while releasing the budget for the construction of these four heliports, has instructed the Himachal Government to complete the work related to the construction and operation of the heliport soon. After this the utilization certificate should be submitted to the authority. Heliports are being built under the UDAN-5.1 Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) of the Government of India. The broad meaning of Udaan is a Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik. The Civil Aviation Ministry’s UDAN scheme includes delivery of medical cargo, supply of agricultural products to tribal districts and air travel etc. during the pandemic.
Budget approval has been received for the heliport under Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) UDAN-5.1. Heliports will be built in Dharamshala and Palampur. Tourism business will benefit from this. The Tourism and Civil Aviation Department has been instructed to start the work soon.
