Dharamshala (Kumud Sharma) – Under the banner of Himachal Pradesh Joint Trade Union Sangharsh Samiti, a massive protest rally has been taken out against the Central and State Government. Along with this, it has also been announced that if the demands are not considered then there will be consequences in the Lok Sabha elections including capital Shimla and sub-divisions.

Under the leadership of State President of Trade Union Coordination Center Premchand Chaudhary, State General Secretary Ravindra Singh Ravi, District President of INTUC Sanjay Saini, hundreds of construction workers conducted a protest march from the bus stand to the DC office in Dharamshala on Wednesday.

He has said that the Government of India has stopped the registration of MNREGA workers who have worked for 50 days as beneficiaries in the Construction Workers Welfare Board. But as soon as the Congress government came to power in Himachal Pradesh, it stopped the registration of all construction workers. The benefits of the scheme have been stopped for the 5 lakh laborers who are registered. 1,31000 claims are pending with the Board for 3 years, and they are being destroyed. The Board runs on its own income because the funds come from the Labor Cess Act, and are deposited directly into the Board’s account, which today despite the Board having more than Rs 700 crore of funds, the poor laborers are not being given their legal rights. Building and other construction workers law is being violated. The Secretary and other officials of the Board have no knowledge of the law. Even the advice of the Law Department is not being followed. Even the orders of the Supreme Court are being violated. The previous Jairam Thakur government spent the workers’ money lying in the board’s account on its personal interests. Now Sukhu government is also spending labor funds on its advertising. Officers are also roaming in board vehicles. Board officials are busy having fun, but 95 percent of the funds which were supposed to be spent on construction workers by law are being spent unnecessarily. After this anger march, a memorandum has been submitted to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu through DC Kangra.
