Dharamshala Assembly by-election: BJP candidate Sudhir Sharma won by luck, Rakesh Chaudhary spoiled the entire contest

Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, June 04Rakesh Chaudhary, who contested as an independent candidate in the by-election of Dharamshala assembly constituency of Himachal Pradesh, played an important role in defeating the Congress candidate.BJP candidate Sudhir Sharma got 45.06 percent votes in the by-election of Dharamshala assembly seat. The Congress candidate who came second got 36.19 percent votes and independent candidate Rakesh Chaudhary who came third played an important role in defeating the Congress candidate by registering 17.29 percent votes.

In the by-election of Dharamshala assembly seat, BJP candidate Sudhir Sharma got 28,066 votes, the second-ranked Congress candidate got 22,540 votes and the third-ranked independent candidate Rakesh Chaudhary registered 17.29 percent and played an important role in defeating the Congress candidate in a triangular contest.Congress candidate former mayor Devendra Singh Jaggi has faced defeat in the by-election of Dharamshala assembly seat.But Rakesh Chaudhary, an independent candidate from OBC, contested from Dharamshala assembly constituency and turned the entire contest in favor of the BJP candidate.Let us tell you that independent candidate Rakesh Chaudhary had also demanded Congress ticket from CM Sukhu for Dharamshala assembly seat.After the former Congress MLA Sudhir Sharma joined BJP, Rakesh Chaudhary resigned from BJP in March itself.It is worth noting that Rakesh Chaudhary, who contested on a BJP ticket in the 2022 assembly elections, had to face defeat from Congress candidate Sudhir Sharma.If we look at all the aspects, Rakesh Chaudhary has played an important role in making the BJP candidate win by contesting as an independent candidate.If there was no triangular contest on the Dharamshala assembly by-election seat, then perhaps this seat was seen going in favor of the Congress candidate today.

But in the Lahaul-Spiti assembly by-election seat, former minister Ram Lal Markanda, who left the BJP and contested as an independent candidate, lost by a very small margin and the BJP candidate remained at the third position. If the BJP had given the ticket to former minister Ram Lal Markanda today, then this seat would not have gone out of the hands of the BJP.
