News of a tragic accident has been received on the Pooh village road in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. Three women died due to the accident of a pickup, while four others were seriously injured. The injured were airlifted to IGMC Shimla by Indian Army helicopter.

Reckong Peo, 05 September: News of a tragic accident has been received on the Pooh village road in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. Three women died due to the accident of a pickup, while four others were seriously injured. The injured were airlifted to IGMC Shimla by Indian Army helicopter.

According to initial information, the incident took place at around 7.30 am, when six women of Pooh village were going on Gandhi Mohalla road carrying gravel in a pickup vehicle (HP 67- 3488) to work under MNREGA. Near Pooh Community Hospital, the vehicle suddenly went out of control and fell into a deep ditch. In this accident, Chhewang Jangmo, Indra Moni and Sarita died on the spot, while four other people including the driver Deepak Kumar were seriously injured. Immediately after the accident, the injured were taken to the Regional Hospital, Reckong Peo for first aid. The injured include Chokit, Surendra, and Shanti Devi. After first aid, the injured were referred to IGMC Shimla via helicopter from the Army’s Choling helipad.

According to preliminary information, the women were working under MNREGA work and were carrying gravel in a pickup. All these women were residents of Pooh village and were on Gandhi Mohalla Road at the time of the accident. The cause of the accident is not yet clear, but the police is investigating the matter. The administration has expressed grief over the accident and assured all possible help to the victim families. Special arrangements are being made by the administration for the treatment of the injured. The police have started an investigation to find out the cause of the accident.
