The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has once again demonstrated its political strength in Sirmaur district by securing a clear majority in the Zila Parishad elections. With results declared for 13 out of the total 17 seats, BJP-backed candidates have already won 11 seats, leaving the Congress party with only two victories so far.

The remaining four seats, all located in the Paonta Sahib Assembly constituency, are still under counting, with final results expected later tonight. However, the BJP’s commanding lead has effectively ensured its control over the district body for another term.

BJP Registers Dominant Victories Across Sirmaur

Several BJP-supported candidates recorded impressive winning margins across different wards, highlighting the party’s strong grassroots presence in the district.

From Nohradhar, Hans Raj emerged victorious with a massive margin of 4,892 votes, one of the largest wins in the election. Ankita from Dana Ghato secured a comfortable victory by 3,222 votes, while Sunita Pojta from Rast won by 2,411 votes.

In Shillai, Indu Bala registered a victory with a margin of 774 votes. BJP candidate Balbir Pundir from Tatiyana won by 3,126 votes, while Ankita Sharma from Bankala secured a narrow but significant victory by 261 votes.

Other notable BJP winners include Promila from Trilokpur (1,090 votes), Shivani from Dadahu (1,609 votes), Baldev Bhandari from Sarahan (776 votes), Lekh Raj from Lana Bhalta (754 votes), and Saroj Bala from Neri Kotli (460 votes).

Congress Limited to Two Seats

The Congress party managed to win only two seats in the declared results. Rittu Bala secured victory from the Karganu ward with a margin of 336 votes, while Khattari Singh won the Sataun ward by an impressive margin of 2,893 votes.

Despite these victories, the overall performance of the Congress has been seen as disappointing, particularly in areas where the party was expected to perform strongly.

Political Significance of the Results

The election outcome carries considerable political significance for Himachal Pradesh politics. One of the most notable developments was the BJP-backed candidates’ clean sweep in Sri Renuka Ji, the home constituency of Himachal Pradesh Congress president Vinay Kumar.

Political observers view the result as a strong endorsement of the BJP’s organizational network and local leadership in Sirmaur district. The outcome could also influence political narratives ahead of future electoral battles in the state.

BJP Set to Retain Control of Sirmaur Zila Parishad

With 11 seats already secured and only four results pending, the BJP is comfortably positioned to retain control of the Sirmaur Zila Parishad. The results reinforce the party’s dominance in the district and underline its continued popularity among voters at the grassroots level.

As counting continues in the remaining wards, all eyes remain on the final tally, although the broader picture has already become clear—the BJP has once again emerged as the dominant political force in Sirmaur’s local governance landscape.
