In a major step towards improving public accommodation services, the Himachal Pradesh government has launched an online booking facility for the 21-bed dormitory at the Hamirpur Circuit House. The service has been integrated with the state’s existing HIM Atithi online booking platform and officially became operational on May 20.
According to an official spokesperson, the initiative has been introduced mainly to support students visiting Hamirpur for competitive examinations and educational activities. With affordable pricing and easy online access, the facility is expected to provide much-needed relief to students and budget travelers.
The government has fixed a nominal charge of Rs 100 per bed for Himachali residents, while visitors from outside the state will have to pay Rs 200 per bed. Officials believe the low-cost accommodation option will make travel and temporary stay more convenient for candidates appearing in exams and other visitors coming to the district.
The spokesperson further stated that the state government had already launched an online booking system for government rest houses in May 2025 under a 50 percent advance payment model. The initiative was aimed at making government accommodation facilities more transparent, accessible, and citizen-friendly.
Over the past few months, the digital booking system has reportedly improved the availability and occupancy of government rest houses and circuit houses across Himachal Pradesh. The move has also contributed to increased government revenue while making accommodation booking easier for tourists, students, and the general public.
The launch of the Hamirpur dormitory booking service is being seen as another important step in the state government’s ongoing push towards digital governance and public convenience.
