Residents and travelers in Himachal Pradesh should brace for continued wet weather, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for May 5 across most parts of the state. The advisory signals the possibility of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds, particularly in 10 districts.
According to IMD officials, the alert applies to nearly the entire hill state, excluding Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti, where weather conditions are expected to remain relatively stable. In other regions, light to moderate rainfall combined with sudden wind activity could disrupt daily life and travel plans.
🌩️ Rain to Continue Till May 8
The weather department has forecast that light rainfall will persist across the middle and higher hills from May 6 to May 8, keeping the skies mostly cloudy. While a brief dry spell is expected on May 9, it may not last long.
A fresh western disturbance is likely to impact the western Himalayan region from May 10 onwards, bringing another round of rainfall to the state.
🌡️ Temperature to Rise Despite Rain
Interestingly, even as rain continues, temperatures are expected to gradually rise.
- Minimum temperatures may increase by 2°C to 7°C
- Maximum temperatures could climb by 3°C to 10°C
This combination of rising temperatures and intermittent rain may lead to humid conditions in several areas.
