In a dramatic turn of events during one of Washington’s most high-profile gatherings, Donald Trump has spoken out following a shooting incident near the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, firmly rejecting controversial claims made about him in the suspect’s manifesto.

The incident took place at the Washington Hilton, where the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner was being held. According to reports, gunfire erupted one floor above the ballroom, triggering panic and immediate security action.

Trump Describes Chaotic Moments During Shooting

In an interview with 60 Minutes, Trump recalled the tense moments when United States Secret Service agents quickly moved him out of the venue.

“I wasn’t worried. We live in a crazy world,” Trump said, describing his reaction after hearing gunshots.

He admitted that his curiosity may have slowed down security efforts. “I wanted to see what was happening. I wasn’t making it that easy for them,” he added, noting that agents repeatedly instructed him to get down for safety.

Trump also mentioned that both he and the First Lady were eventually guided to the floor as they were escorted away from the area.

Strong Reaction to Manifesto Allegations

The interview took a sharp turn when Trump was questioned about disturbing references made in the attacker’s manifesto, which had reportedly been shared with family members before the incident.

Responding firmly, Trump dismissed the claims outright.

“I am not a rapist,” he said, calling the attacker a “sick person” and criticizing the decision to highlight such content during the interview.

When further pressed, Trump added, “I’m not a pedophile. I was totally exonerated. These are false associations with no connection to me.”

Calls to Continue the Event Despite Attack

Despite the shocking incident, Trump urged organizers not to cancel the event entirely. He encouraged the White House Correspondents’ Association to reschedule the dinner within the next month.

“I don’t want to see it cancelled. It’s really bad if a crazy person can stop something like this,” he said.

While noting that his schedule remains busy, Trump emphasized that such events should not be disrupted by acts of violence.

Security Concerns Rise After Incident

The shooting has raised fresh concerns about security arrangements at high-profile political events in the United States. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the motive behind the attack and the contents of the suspect’s manifesto.
