The political temperature in Himachal Pradesh continues to rise as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a sharp attack on the state government, accusing it of failing to deliver on its electoral promises and mismanaging governance.

Addressing a protest rally in Bijhri village, Barsar MLA Inder Dutt Lakhanpal alleged that the government led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has “completely failed on all fronts,” creating what he described as a situation of administrative chaos in the state.

Lakhanpal claimed that the Congress-led government has not fulfilled any of the 10 key guarantees it promised during the 2022 Assembly elections. He pointed to unfulfilled commitments such as providing ₹1,500 financial assistance to women, 300 units of free electricity, and the creation of five lakh jobs. “These promises gave hope to the people, but today they stand disappointed,” he said.

He further raised concerns about the state’s financial health, alleging that “reckless and wasteful spending” has pushed Himachal Pradesh towards a severe economic crisis, resembling a near-bankruptcy situation.

The BJP leader also criticized the discontinuation of welfare schemes like Himcare and Sahara, which were introduced during the previous BJP regime. According to him, scrapping these initiatives has adversely impacted economically weaker sections, depriving them of essential support.

Echoing similar concerns, Hamirpur MLA Ashish Sharma highlighted the deteriorating infrastructure across the state. He alleged that road conditions have worsened significantly, drinking water systems are failing in several regions, and healthcare services are under strain.

“The ground reality reflects neglect. Basic facilities are crumbling, yet the government appears more focused on rhetoric than real action,” Sharma said.

The BJP’s criticism comes at a time when public expectations remain high, especially among voters who had placed their trust in the government’s pre-election assurances. With mounting political pressure, the coming months could prove crucial for the Sukhu administration as it faces increasing scrutiny over its performance.
