Himachal Pradesh is set to experience an extended spell of snowfall, rainfall, and hailstorms over the coming days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing orange and yellow weather alerts across several districts.
According to officials, the current weather activity is expected to persist till April 10, impacting both higher and mid-hill regions of the state.
Yellow Alert Issued for Multiple Districts
A yellow warning has been issued for districts including Shimla, Kullu, Solan, Kangra, Sirmaur, and Chamba for April 5. Residents in these areas may experience:
- Thunderstorms
- Lightning strikes
- Gusty winds at isolated locations
Authorities have advised people to remain cautious, especially in vulnerable and hilly areas.
Fresh Western Disturbance to Intensify Weather
The IMD has also predicted a fresh western disturbance that will impact northwest India from April 7, likely bringing intense rainfall and snowfall on April 7 and 8.
This system is expected to significantly enhance precipitation activity across Himachal Pradesh, increasing the chances of heavy showers and hailstorms.
Temperature Trends Show Slight Rise
Despite the ongoing wet spell, temperatures are expected to show a gradual increase:
- Minimum temperatures may rise by 2°C to 5°C
- Maximum temperatures could increase by 2°C to 3°C
This indicates a mixed weather pattern, combining cold conditions in higher altitudes with relatively milder temperatures in lower regions.

Advisory for Residents and Tourists
