Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Ukraine will be technically prepared to join the European Union by 2027, stressing that fast-track accession to the bloc is crucial for the country’s long-term security after the war with Russia ends.

Speaking to reporters in remarks released by his office on Friday, Zelenskyy said Ukraine is working rapidly to complete the reforms and requirements needed for membership.

“Technically, we will be ready in 2027,” he said, adding that the government aims to implement the key steps required for accession by the end of 2026.

The President emphasised the need for clarity from the EU regarding the timeline for membership. “I would like Ukraine to receive a clear timeline,” he said, reiterating his administration’s commitment to political, legal and economic reforms aligned with European standards.

Ukraine has been pushing for faster integration with the EU since Russia’s invasion, viewing membership not only as an economic opportunity but also as a strategic security guarantee.
