Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday congratulated the Himachal Pradesh Police for securing the first position nationwide in average response time under the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS-112) during the past 24 hours, describing the achievement as a proud moment for the state.

The Chief Minister said the accomplishment reflects the efficiency, dedication and professionalism of the police force in providing timely assistance to citizens in distress. He noted that despite the state’s challenging mountainous terrain, long travel distances and limited resources, Himachal Pradesh has emerged as the best-performing state in emergency response services.

“This achievement demonstrates the commitment and tireless efforts of our police personnel, who continue to deliver exceptional results even under difficult geographical conditions,” Sukhu said.

Focus on Technology and Modernisation

Sukhu added that the state government remains fully committed to police modernisation, technology-driven policing and citizen-centric governance to further strengthen public safety services. He highlighted that disciplined working procedures, efficient use of modern technology and strong field-level coordination have significantly improved response times.

He also appreciated the consistent efforts of ERSS-112 teams, police stations and field officers, whose quick mobilisation and coordinated action helped the state achieve the top national ranking.

“Despite difficult terrain and long distances, the Himachal Pradesh Police has provided the fastest emergency response compared to all other states and Union Territories,” he said, assuring continued government support to upgrade emergency response systems and policing infrastructure.

DGP Credits Teamwork

Director General of Police Ashok Tewari expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for his continued support, particularly in the areas of modernisation and adoption of technology. He said the guiding motto of the Himachal Pradesh Police remains ‘Speed, Sensitivity and Service’.

“This recognition is not merely a ranking but a reaffirmation of our commitment to public service. Whenever a citizen calls for help, the police will reach them at the earliest,” Tewari added.
