Himachal Pradesh News : Leadership Pays Tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee on His Birth Anniversary
Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Shimla, remembering his statesmanship and lasting contribution to Himachal Pradesh.
Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Thursday paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary at the historic Ridge in Shimla.
Recalling Vajpayee as a leader who belonged to all sections of society, the Governor said he had the rare ability to carry both the ruling side and the Opposition along, exemplifying that political competition should never descend into hostility. He noted that Vajpayee’s social and political life reflected grace, warmth and dignity, qualities that should serve as a guiding light for contemporary politics.
Describing him as a towering statesman, a committed nationalist and one of the tallest leaders in Indian political history, the Governor said Vajpayee always stood firm in protecting the nation’s interests. He also spoke of Vajpayee’s deep emotional connect with Himachal Pradesh, recalling that the former Prime Minister often referred to the state as his second home. His immense contributions to the country, the Governor said, would continue to inspire generations.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, while paying floral tributes on behalf of the people of Himachal Pradesh at Vajpayee’s statue on the Ridge, described him as an exceptional statesman, a powerful orator and a gifted poet who left an indelible mark on Indian public life.
Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur and BJP state president Dr Rajeev Bindal also offered floral tributes to the former Prime Minister at The Ridge.
Highlighting Vajpayee’s close association with the state, Jai Ram Thakur said he always considered Himachal Pradesh as his own, a bond that greatly benefitted the region. He recalled that Vajpayee’s industrial package played a transformative role in developing Baddi in Solan district into a major pharmaceutical hub.
