Himachal Weather Update: Snow and Rain Likely From December 4 as Tabo Records –4.7°C

Himachal Pradesh is expected to witness rain and snowfall over its mid and higher hills on December 4 and 5, according to the Shimla Meteorological Centre. Tabo in Lahaul–Spiti recorded the state’s lowest temperature at –4.7°C, while a yellow fog warning has been issued for parts of Bilaspur and Mandi.

Rain and snowfall are expected in Himachal Pradesh from December 4.

The coldest temperature of the season was recorded in Tabo, in the tribal district of Lahaul and Spiti, where the minimum dipped to –4.7°C.

On Sunday, the Shimla Meteorological Centre forecast rain and snow over the state’s mid and higher mountain ranges on Thursday and Friday (December 4 and 5).

A yellow warning for dense fog has also been issued for parts of Bilaspur district, especially around the Bhakra Dam reservoir area during late-night hours, and for sections of the Balh valley in Mandi district, from Monday to Wednesday.

Weather remained dry across the state over the past 24 hours, though cold-wave conditions prevailed in tribal and high-altitude regions, driving night temperatures below freezing.

Minimum and maximum temperatures saw only marginal changes. After Tabo’s –4.7°C, Kukumseri recorded –4.6°C and Samdo –3.1°C. In contrast, Una remained the warmest during the day with a maximum of 25.2°C.

The MeT office reported that Himachal Pradesh has received 69.5 mm of rainfall so far this post-monsoon season (October 1–November 30), against a normal of 44.8 mm—an excess of 55 percent.
