Himachal CM Sukhvinder Sukhu Faces BJP Attack Over Viral ‘Radhe-Radhe’ Video With Schoolchildren
A video showing Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu interacting with children has sparked a political row after the BJP claimed he appeared uncomfortable when they greeted him with “Radhe-Radhe.” The Congress says the clip is being taken out of context amid rising tensions between both parties during the ongoing winter session of the state assembly.
The BJP has targeted Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu over a video in which children greet him with “Radhe-Radhe.”
The controversy comes amid escalating tensions between the ruling Congress and the opposition BJP during the winter session of the state assembly, following Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi’s remarks against the RSS.
In the video, Sukhu is seen speaking with a group of children on an open ground at the Sports Authority of India stadium in Dharamshala.
On Friday, the BJP’s Himachal Pradesh unit shared the clip on X, alleging that the Chief Minister appeared uncomfortable when the children greeted him by saying “Radhe-Radhe.”
In the short video, several children touch Sukhu’s feet and say “Radhe-Radhe.” The Chief Minister responds, “Radhe-Radhe or namaskar.” When the children repeat the greeting, he asks them, “Why are you saying Radhe-Radhe?”
Sharing the video from its official account, the BJP accused the Chief Minister and the Congress of dismissing Sanatan Dharma.
The party wrote, “Even children greeting him with ‘Radhe-Radhe’ made Himachal’s Congress Chief Minister uncomfortable! Why do Congress and its leaders dislike Sanatan Dharma so much?”
The Congress has not yet issued an official statement, but party insiders said the remarks are being “taken out of context.” They added that Sukhu’s interaction with the children was informal and not intended to hurt religious sentiments.
The incident has erupted at a time when political friction between the two parties is already high, driven by Negi’s comments on the RSS and accusations against the Congress government over delays in holding panchayat elections.
