New branches of Co-operative Bank will soon open in Himachal after about five years. The bank management has sent a letter to RBI in this regard. After the approval of this letter, those places will be selected across the state, where the bank can run its branches. The process of selection of new branch in the bank will be completed jointly by the core committee and the chairman of the bank. This disclosure has been made by the newly elected chairman of the bank, Devendra Shyam. He told that it is a condition of RBI that branches can be opened only when the NPA of the bank is less than seven percent. The NPA of the co-operative bank has come down to less than seven per cent. The bank has disbursed Rs.8644 crore as loan. Out of this, an amount of 598 crores is in NPA. There has been a reduction of 2.2 per cent in NPAs. Apart from this, he told that in view of the increasing competition, all the branches of the bank are being connected to the internet.
This will speed up the work. Will upgrade banks as core banking. He told that despite Kovid, the bank is not in loss and the number of customers joining the bank is increasing continuously. People above the age of 60 years have been associated with the bank for a long time. He said that the deposit amount in the bank is 14 thousand 121 crore and there has been an increase of 20.27 percent. The net profit of the bank has been 177.55 crores. The bank has 217 branches in the entire state and not a single branch has been opened in the last five years. Efforts will be made to open branches in future.
