State Has Not Received a Single Rupee of Central Aid: Negi
Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi on Wednesday said that the state government has not received a single rupee from the ₹1,500 crore relief package recently announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Taking a jibe, he remarked, “Is the money being sent by road, rail, or bullock cart?”
Addressing the media, Negi said the state has suffered losses of over ₹5,000 crore this monsoon season, affecting roads, agricultural and horticultural land, as well as public and private property. “Between June 20 and September 19, a total of 427 lives were lost. As many as 651 pucca houses and 1,012 kutcha houses were completely destroyed, while thousands of other structures—including shops, cowsheds, and water mills—were damaged,” he said.
He added that the state government is providing ₹7 lakh for the reconstruction of fully damaged houses, while the central government is offering only ₹1.3 lakh. In addition, compensation is being given for partially damaged houses, shops, cowsheds, livestock, crops, orchards, and household items. “So far, more than ₹270 crore has been distributed through SDRF, NDRF, and the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund,” he said.
Negi also informed that under the MIS scheme, 67,000 metric tonnes of apples have been procured, and more than 2.25 crore boxes of apples have already reached the market this season. He accused BJP leaders of indulging in politics even during natural disasters.
