Major Decisions by Himachal Cabinet: 500 ‘Pashu Mitras’ to Be Recruited, Stipend Hike for Multi-Task Workers

Shimla, June 28:
In a key meeting held on Friday, the Himachal Pradesh Cabinet approved several significant decisions aimed at employment generation, disaster management, and rural support. Among the most notable was the approval to recruit 500 ‘Pashu Mitras’ (Animal Care Assistants) in the Animal Husbandry Department, each to receive an honorarium of ₹5,000 per month.

Additionally, the Cabinet decided to increase the monthly honorarium of Multi-Task Workers employed under the Public Works Department by ₹500.

Disaster Management Units in Every Panchayat

Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi, addressing the media after the meeting, announced the establishment of disaster management units at the panchayat level to ensure timely response and relief during emergencies.

New Dairy Incentive Scheme for Farmers

The Cabinet also gave the green light to a milk incentive scheme for farmers supplying to non-governmental dairy cooperatives. Eligible dairy farmers will receive a monthly subsidy of ₹2,500, in addition to ₹3 per litre as assistance through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

Other Key Decisions:

  • The Managing Director’s office of the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) will be relocated to Dharamshala, though outsourced employees will not be shifted.

  • The Cabinet approved the creation and filling of 101 new posts in the police line of Dehra subdivision, Kangra district.

  • An interest subsidy scheme for solar energy projects was also approved:

    • 5% interest subsidy for projects between 100 kW and 1 MW in tribal areas.

    • 4% subsidy for projects between 250 kW and 2 MW in non-tribal regions.

  • Posts under Pay Matrix Level 11 will be reclassified from Group B to Group C.

Disaster Losses Cross ₹300 Crore

Minister Negi also informed that natural disasters in recent days have caused an estimated loss of ₹300 crore to the state and claimed 17 lives. As of now, 37 roads remain blocked, and the state continues to experience heavy rainfall.
