943 Outsourced Employees Removed or Replaced in Himachal’s Government Departments
Shimla, August 18.
A total of 943 outsourced employees have so far been removed or replaced from various government departments in Himachal Pradesh, the state government informed the Assembly on Monday.
The government clarified that it does not directly remove outsourced staff; the process is carried out by service provider companies. Whenever a department reports shortcomings in services or receives complaints, the concerned company decides whether to remove or replace the employees. It was also stated that there is currently no provision for re-employing those who have been removed.
This information was presented in a written reply by the Chief Minister to a question raised by Nachan MLA Vinod Kumar on the first day of the Monsoon Session.
The Chief Minister explained that the entire hiring process for outsourced employees is not conducted by government departments or boards but through contractors and service provider companies selected via tender. The chosen firms supply manpower as per requirements and deploy employees in the concerned departments.
The Assembly was also given a department-wise breakup of employees removed so far: one from the Agriculture Department, six from the Forest Department, one from the Technical Education Department, one from the Kullu Zila Parishad, one from the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, 18 from the Labour and Employment Department, five from Multipurpose Projects and Power, and the highest—910—from the Health and Family Welfare Department.
In total, 943 outsourced employees have been removed or replaced across departments in the state.
