Himachal Govt Intensifies AIDS Awareness Campaign, CM Flags Off 12 Electric Scooters for Doorstep Medicine Delivery

Shimla, June 25 – In a significant move to raise awareness about AIDS and ensure timely delivery of medication to patients, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu flagged off 12 electric scooters from his official residence, Oak Over, on Tuesday. These scooters—deployed by the State AIDS Control Society—will operate across all districts to deliver antiretroviral medicines directly to patients’ homes.
The initiative also includes on-the-ground counseling services to support patients and their families. Present at the flag-off ceremony were Health Minister Col. Dhani Ram Shandil, MLA Harish Janartha, Deputy Speaker Vinay Kumar, and Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Sukhu said the scooters will help ensure uninterrupted delivery of essential medicines to HIV-positive individuals. He added that electric vehicles were intentionally chosen over diesel options to promote environmental consciousness alongside healthcare.
“This initiative is a step forward in our dual commitment—delivering quality healthcare and promoting green mobility,” the Chief Minister said.
He emphasized that the state government is committed not only to providing improved medical care and timely medication to AIDS patients but also to spreading awareness for prevention and early intervention.
