Nalagarh: Fire Engulfs Parked Oil Tanker, ₹15 Lakh Loss Reported
Fire in tanker
Solan, June 3:
Panic broke out in Khera village under Nalagarh late Sunday night when a parked oil tanker suddenly caught fire. The tanker, which had been standing idle by the roadside for several days, was fortunately empty at the time of the incident, preventing what could have been a major disaster.
The fire broke out around 11:30 PM, with flames quickly engulfing the vehicle. At the time, neither the driver nor the owner was present. Local residents immediately alerted the fire department. A team from the fire brigade, led by Officer Jaipal Thakur, reached the scene and managed to bring the blaze under control after considerable effort.
“We received the alert around 11:30 PM and rushed to the spot,” said Officer Thakur. “The tanker had been empty and stationary for days. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.”
According to officials, the fire destroyed a significant portion of the tanker, resulting in an estimated loss of ₹15 lakh. Thanks to the prompt response of the fire brigade, parts of the vehicle were saved.
The local administration has urged vehicle owners to park such vehicles in safe and designated areas to prevent similar incidents in the future.
