IIM Sirmaur Hosts 9th Convocation Ceremony, Awards Degrees to 295 Students

Shimla, April 26:
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sirmaur celebrated its 9th Convocation Ceremony with enthusiasm and dignity on Saturday at its permanent campus in Dhaula Kuan. Vipin Sondhi, Chairman of the National Board for Quality Promotion and Chairman of the CII Green Mobility Council, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Ajay S. Shriram, Chairperson of the Institute’s Board of Governors, presided over the ceremony.

The event commenced with an academic procession. In his inaugural address, Ajay S. Shriram reflected on the evolving Indian and global business landscape, urging the graduating students to embrace innovation and maintain an open mindset as they step into their professional journeys.

Presenting the institute’s annual report, IIM Sirmaur Director Prof. Prafulla Y. Agnihotri highlighted the major milestones achieved over the past year. He noted that the institute launched an Advanced Manufacturing Management program in collaboration with RWTH Aachen University, Germany, and initiated MBA and Bachelor of Management Studies programs in Tourism and Hospitality Management with two leading universities in Mauritius. Six international Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were also signed during the year.

Prof. Agnihotri further shared that 92.5% of the permanent campus construction had been completed, at a total investment of ₹316 crore. Following all necessary statutory approvals, the institute successfully transitioned to its permanent campus in July 2024. For summer internships, a record 202 companies visited the campus this year, while over 150 companies participated in the final placement process.

Ajay S. Shriram conferred degrees upon the graduating students in the presence of their proud families. This year, a total of 295 students graduated, including 250 Master of Business Administration (MBA) graduates and 45 Master of Business Administration in Tourism Management (MBA-TM) graduates. Among the graduating class, 75 were female students.

The Gold Medal awardees were:

  • Mohit Garg (Chairperson’s Gold Medal)

  • Patel Pawan Sandeep (Director’s Medal)

  • Nischal Jain (Best Performance in Finance)

  • Gaurav Bhatt (Best Performance in Marketing)

  • Bratin Sarkar (Best Performance in MBA-Tourism Management)

In his convocation address, Chief Guest Vipin Sondhi congratulated the students and emphasized the importance of striving for excellence, humility, and gratitude. He reminded them that convocation marks the beginning of a new chapter, encouraging them to lead with ethics and integrity in society and the industries they will serve.

The ceremony concluded in an atmosphere filled with pride, hope, and celebration. IIM Sirmaur remains steadfast in its commitment to nurturing excellence and fostering responsible leadership in the years ahead.
