Shimla, April 17: A serious case of ancestral property usurpation has surfaced in the Kotkhai police station jurisdiction of Shimla district, prompting police to register an FIR against two individuals. The action follows a complaint filed by three brothers—Jheena, Bhagat C. Thakur, and Ramesh, residents of Shimla, who allege that their relatives fraudulently grabbed their late father’s property.
The brothers claim that the accused, residents of Kotkhai, tampered with official documents and managed to get the entire ownership of the land transferred to themselves, bypassing the legal rights of the actual heirs. When the victims confronted them, they were allegedly threatened with consequences.
Revenue Department’s Report Triggers Action
The complainants had earlier approached the Revenue Department, requesting an inquiry into the matter. After examining the land records and transaction details, the department confirmed discrepancies. Based on this report, the police registered a case under multiple serious charges.
Sections of IPC Invoked
The case has been lodged under the following sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC):
Section 420 – Cheating
Section 406 – Criminal breach of trust
Section 506 – Criminal intimidation
Section 34 – Common criminal intention
Police Begin Formal Investigation
A senior police officer confirmed that a detailed investigation is now underway. “We are verifying the authenticity of the property documents, and both the accused and the complainants will be questioned,” the officer said.
