Hamirpur, 04 February: A wrestler’s health suddenly deteriorated while fighting in the Chhinj fair organized in village Makkar under sub-division Barsar of Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh. Wrestler Home Guard Jawan Udham Singh was immediately taken to Bhota Hospital for treatment, where after examination the doctors declared him dead. He suddenly stumbled while fighting in the wrestling. In this case, the police got the post-mortem done after taking the body in custody. The real reasons will be clear only after the post-mortem.
According to the information received from the police, this incident occurred in the wrestling organized in Makkar village. When 56-year-old Udham Singh’s health suddenly deteriorated, the organizers and spectators immediately tried to give first aid to the wrestler, but when his condition became critical, he was taken to Bhota PHC, where doctors declared him dead. There was mourning in the fair after the incident. The police have started investigating the matter.
Udham Singh was a resident of Dudhana village of Galore. He was serving as a Home Guard Jawan since 1996. He had been participating in the wrestling for the last 40 years. He also wrestled in the wrestling held in village Makkar, but this match proved to be the last match of his life.
According to eyewitnesses, during the wrestling, the wrestler felt weakness and suddenly stumbled. At first people thought that he had become lethargic due to fatigue, but when his condition started deteriorating further, he was immediately taken to the hospital. Here the doctors declared him dead. Hamirpur District Home Guard Commandant, Vinay Kumar said that the death of Home Guard jawan Udham Singh is extremely sad. The District Home Guard Battalion has lost one of its experienced and dedicated members. He was serving for 29 years and was fond of wrestling.
Hamirpur District Superintendent of Police, Bhagat Singh Thakur said that a wrestler died due to deterioration in his health during wrestling in Makkar Chhinj Mela. The body has been handed over to the family after post-mortem.
