Event Aims to Address Blood Shortages and Promote Social Responsibility
Shimla, December 30: In honor of the late former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, the Umang Foundation will be organizing a large-scale blood donation camp at Shimla’s historic Ridge Ground on January 1, marking the New Year. The event will be graced by State Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh as the chief guest, alongside Shimla MLA Harish Janartha and Padma Shri awardee Dr. Omesh Bharti as special guests.
Ajay Srivastava, President of the Umang Foundation, highlighted that due to the intense winter cold, Shimla hospitals are facing a severe shortage of blood. To help address this urgent need, the foundation has partnered with the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) Blood Bank, which will oversee the collection of blood at the camp.
Srivastava also appealed to the people of Shimla, particularly the youth, to begin the New Year by participating in this noble cause. He emphasized that a single unit of blood can save multiple lives and that blood donation is not only an essential social service but also an act of compassion.
