Shimla, 24 December: The ten-day Winter Carnival has started in a grand manner in Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh. This carnival will be completed on January 2, 2025. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated the carnival by flagging off the cultural groups and gave the message of the culture of the state by performing Mahanati with women on Mall Road.

Display of Himachali culture and a confluence of entertainment:
Along with a glimpse of the culture of Himachal Pradesh, the Winter Carnival will have the main attractions of the performances of more than 20 famous artists including Punjabi singers Satinder Sartaj and Shabab Sabri. Police, Home Guard, and Army bands will also perform in the program. The Chief Minister said that Himachal Pradesh is committed to the convenience of tourists by following the tradition of “Atithi Devo Bhava”. He directed that hotels and restaurants should be kept open 24 hours, so that no tourist remains hungry. He also instructed the police to ensure respectful behaviour with tourists.

Main attractions of the carnival:

Music and entertainment: Live performances by artists like Satinder Sartaj and Shabab Sabri.

Competitions: Miss Carnival, Voice of Shimla, Prince and Princess Junior, Strongest Youth of Shimla.

Cultural parade: Cultural parade of the Language and Culture Department and a grand parade in hill costumes on Mall Road.

Special events: Cycling, craft fair, lit fest, and hill cuisine will be enjoyed at more than 100 stalls. This time a parade in hill costumes will also be taken out on Mall Road. There will be a cultural parade of the Language and Culture Department.

The Chief Minister said that along with Shimla, Winter Carnival is being organized for tourists in Dharamshala and Manali as well. This ten-day long Winter Carnival will showcase the cultural heritage of Himachal Pradesh as well as provide tourists with an opportunity for a lot of entertainment.
