Mohali, December 22: A tragic incident occurred in Sohana village, Mohali, Punjab, when a four-storey building collapsed around 4:30 PM on Saturday evening during basement excavation work. Drishti Verma, a 20-year-old girl from Theog, Shimla, lost her life in the accident. She was pulled from the debris by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team in a critical condition.

According to Acting Deputy Commissioner Viraj S. Tidke, 15 people are feared to be trapped under the rubble. A massive rescue operation, involving the local police, army, and NDRF personnel, continued through the night. The building housed a gym and a PG accommodation, and many people were present at the time of the collapse. In response to the incident, the surrounding area was evacuated to facilitate the ongoing rescue efforts.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann was briefed on the incident and rescue operations, staying updated on the situation. Rescue teams have expressed their commitment to saving as many people as possible from beneath the wreckage.
