In a new controversy, the Himachal Pradesh police have filed an FIR against six individuals, including Dharamshala MLA Sudhir Sharma, in connection with a viral incident involving a fake menu during Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s recent Kupvi tour. The case was registered following a complaint from Kulg Panchayat Pradhan Suman Chauhan and local resident Neetu Parmar, who allege that a fabricated menu claiming the CM had been served “wild chicken” was shared widely on social media, damaging the traditional culture and food reputation of the area.

On December 13, CM Sukhu had visited Tikkar village in the Kupvi region, where traditional local food was prepared for his special guests. However, a menu, which later turned out to be fake, circulated online, listing wild chicken as one of the dishes served to the CM and his guests. The controversy grew as the menu falsely claimed the wild chicken served was a protected species, a statement which has since been debunked. Locals pointed out that wild chicken is not native to the area, raising suspicions about the authenticity of the claims.

The Chief Minister’s office quickly responded, with CM Sukhu himself denying that any meat was served during the event, let alone wild chicken. The police investigation, confirmed by DSP Sushant Sharma, is now underway to examine the origins of the false claims and those involved in spreading them.

MLA Sudhir Sharma, who is named in the FIR, has criticized the FIR as an act of fear from the government. He further questioned the authenticity of the claims, calling for an investigation into how many chickens were actually slaughtered for the event. The controversy continues to spark debate, as authorities work to clear up the misinformation and restore the dignity of the local food culture.
