Mandi, 09 December: Deepak Sharma, the former president of the Mandi District Congress Committee, has sharply criticized the recent demonstration organized by the BJP in Mandi, calling it nothing more than a “hue and cry” and a “mere formality.”

Sharma, in a statement, questioned the true intent of the protest, urging the BJP to clarify whether they were protesting against the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for employees, the financial assistance of Rs 1500 given to women, the increase in the minimum price of milk, the strengthening of education, against giving the status children of state to orphan children or the increased compensation for disaster-affected individuals.

Sharma emphasized that the BJP’s protest lacked any real argument or factual basis and accused the party of making noise without offering any concrete solutions. “BJP should tell the public if they are against these pro-people initiatives or if they are simply trying to create distractions,” Sharma remarked.

BJP’s Struggles and the Progress of the Sukhu Government

Sharma also took the opportunity to highlight the contrast between the BJP’s current position and the progress being made under the leadership of the Sukhu government. He pointed out that while BJP is struggling outside power, the Congress-led state government is focusing on making Himachal Pradesh self-reliant through systemic changes.

Notably, Sharma praised the current administration for introducing significant reforms, such as making Himachal Pradesh the first state in the country to set a Minimum Support Price (MSP) for milk, wheat, and maize.

Furthermore, he mentioned that Himachal is also the first state where employees receive their salaries twice a month, showcasing the government’s commitment to welfare and development.

Sharma concluded by urging the BJP to engage in constructive dialogue rather than relying on protests that he believes are nothing but distractions from the real work being done by the Sukhu government.
