New Delhi: Amid his yet-undeclared victory in the US presidential race, Donald Trump today praised billionaire Elon Musk during a celebratory speech. In his address, Trump expressed gratitude to Musk, described him as “a wonderful person” and recalled the time spent with him during the campaign.
“We have a new star, a star is born: Elon,” Trump told his supporters. “He’s an amazing person. We sat down together tonight. You know, he spent two weeks campaigning in Philadelphia, in different parts of Pennsylvania.”
“Only Elon can do that,” Trump said of watching a recent SpaceX launch. “That’s why I love you, Elon .”
Despite no formal declaration by major networks other than Fox News, Trump confidently claimed victory and vowed to “fix” the country. The former president addressed his family members as well as his cheering supporters, and ended the evening by calling for a “political victory the likes of which our country has never seen before.” While networks called Pennsylvania, Georgia and North Carolina in his favor, results in several states were still pending.
Meanwhile, Kamala Harris’ campaign was in limbo. Her campaign announced she would address them soon, but she confirmed she would not speak until the next day.
Earlier in the day, Elon Musk, who may lead a government efficiency commission under Trump’s administration, expressed support on social media, posting a photo with Trump with the message, “Game, set and match.”
