Shares of the company, Google Inc., fall by 7.8% on 8th February. This fall was seen during regular trading hours at the Nasdaq exchange. Google has to face a loss of 100 billion dollars in market value.
This loss happened as the new Google AI Chatbot, Bard, delivered an inaccurate answer in the promotional video. The AI Chatbot, Bard is developed as an answer to Microsoft Chat GPT. The error was caught in Bard by Rerters, a few hours before the launch at the Paris.
The question was from a 9-year-old, about the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). In answer to it, the AI responded that JWST takes pictures of planets outside the Milky Way Galaxy. This answer was wrong. This made the shares of the company fall.
The AI, Bard was built as the competition to the Microsoft AI Chatbot, Chat GPT.
The mistake in the answer represents if Google hurried to come up with a rival.
