Shimla, September 08: An incident of attempted rape of a married woman who went to attend a deity’s Jagran has come to light in Chirgaon police station area under sub-division Rohru. The accused also tried to tear the victim’s clothes. The accused has also threatened to kill the victim if she discloses this. This incident has been carried out by a person living in the victim’s village. After registering a case on the victim’s complaint, the police has started taking action against the accused and efforts are being made to arrest him.

According to the case, on September 6, a deity’s Jagra (Jagran) was going on in a village in Chirgaon. The victim also reached the village to see the Jagra. According to the complaint lodged by the victim with the police, at around 2.30 pm, when she was going to defecate with her friend, the accused came there and attacked her with the intention of outraging her modesty and started molesting her.

According to the complaint, the accused also tried to tear her clothes with the intention of raping her. When she screamed, the accused fled from there. The victim further said that when she returned to the Jagra, the accused met her again in the temple premises, and he threatened her that this time she got away but in future he will not spare her. Scared by the act of the accused, the victim lodged a complaint about the incident with her in the police station. The victim has said in the complaint that when this incident happened, the accused was accompanied by another person, whom she does not know.

A police officer said that on the complaint of the victim, a case has been registered against the accused under sections 74, 75, 76, 351 (2), 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code. He said that the accused is absconding after the incident. A trap has been laid to catch him and he will be arrested soon.
