The cabinet decided to implement the ‘Chief Minister Sukh Shiksha Yojana’. The objective of this scheme is to provide assistance to widows, destitute women, divorced women and disabled parents in raising and educating their children.

Shimla, August 25: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu chaired the state cabinet meeting held on Sunday. The cabinet decided to implement the ‘Chief Minister Sukh Shiksha Yojana’. The objective of this scheme is to provide assistance to widows, destitute women, divorced women and disabled parents in raising and educating their children.

Under the scheme, eligible children will be provided a grant of one thousand rupees per month to meet their education, health and nutritional needs till the age of 18 years. Apart from this, financial assistance will also be provided for fees and hostel expenses of undergraduate, postgraduate and professional courses under the scheme.

In the meeting, approval was also given to deposit 10 percent margin money for the purchase of e-taxis under ‘Rajiv Gandhi Swarojgar Start-up Yojana-2023’ and to provide 50 percent subsidy within three months after the disbursement of loan installment by the bank. To ensure successful implementation of the scheme, UCO Bank has been designated as the nodal bank for loan sanction and Himachal Pradesh State Cooperative Bank and Kangra Central Cooperative Bank have been designated as preferred banks. Under the scheme, beneficiaries will be provided loans at an interest rate of 7.9 per cent per annum.

The Cabinet approved relaxation of age by six months for children already admitted in Nursery, LKG and UKG during the academic year 2023-24. This will allow them to get admission in the next higher classes up to Class I. The Cabinet approved increasing the monthly fee for concessional travel in Himachal Road Transport Corporation buses from Rs 110 to Rs 500 per month for Inspectors, Jail Officers (Executive staff from Jail Warden to non-gazetted rank) and Security Guards of Himachal Pradesh Secretariat.

The Cabinet decided to establish a new Sub Divisional Police Office at Dadasiba in District Kangra and a Police Post at Alampur and to upgrade Sansarpur Terrace and Moin Police Posts to Police Stations. The Cabinet also approved creation of necessary posts for smooth functioning of these offices.

In the meeting, approval was given to open a new circle of Jal Shakti Department at Dehra in District Kangra and to create and fill necessary posts for its smooth functioning. Apart from this, a new Sub-Division and Section of Jal Shakti Department will be established at Khad in Haroli Assembly Constituency of District Una and necessary posts will be created and filled. Approval was also given to open a new Sub-Division of Himachal Pradesh Public Works Department at Khad in Haroli area of ​​District Una and to create and fill necessary posts.

The Cabinet approved to open a Fire Station at Ubadesh in Gumma area of ​​Kotkhai in Shimla and to create and fill necessary posts. The Cabinet approved filling one post each of Assistant Professor in ENT and Psychiatry Department of Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Government Medical College, Nahan, District Sirmaur. Apart from this, permission was granted to purchase three Tesla MRI machines for Indira Gandhi Medical College Shimla, Atal Super Specialty Medical Institute Chamiyana and Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College Hamirpur for the convenience of patients. A decision was also taken to purchase two electric vehicles for emergency services in Atal Super Specialty Medical Institute Chamiyana and Indira Gandhi Medical College Shimla.

Providing relief to the entrepreneurs of the power sector, the Cabinet also reviewed the reduction of free power royalty slab from 20 percent, 30 percent and 40 percent to 12 percent, 18 percent and 30 percent respectively.
