Shimla, August 20: Incidents of landslides are increasing in the capital Shimla due to rain. A massive landslide has occurred once again on the Boileauganj crossing road. This road was blocked yesterday at 4 pm on Monday due to the hill cracking.

The administration had completely closed this road by barricading it due to the fear of debris falling from the hill. Police force has been deployed on both ends by the district administration as a precaution. A large part of the hill cracked at this place at around 9.30 pm on Tuesday night. All the debris and trees fell on the road. Due to this, the rain shelter of the Public Works Department built on the roadside was completely destroyed. The rain shelter collapsed in a moment due to the falling debris. Due to the hill cracking, the road going from Boileauganj to Advanced Study and Vidhan Sabha also broke. Due to the cracks, this road was closed as a precautionary measure yesterday.

Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap said that there has been no loss of life due to the cracking of the hill. The place of landslide was closed yesterday. The rain shelter has collapsed due to the landslide.

He said that the incident of collapse of the rain shelter has come to light due to the landslide near Boileauganj crossing. In this, the officials of the buildings affected by the landslide will be specially present in the emergency meeting, in which especially the officials of Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Deepak Project, Soil Testing Office, Public Works Department, State Geologist Police and other related departments will be present.

Anupam Kashyap said that due to heavy landslide at the said place, there is a danger in the surrounding area, till the situation does not become normal, the alternative arrangement of traffic will remain the same as before.

Deputy Commissioner Kashyap said that the traffic going from Boileauganj via crossing is now being sent via Chakkar. Vehicles going from Boileauganj to Chaura Maidan are also able to go via Summerhill. He has appealed to the city residents to fully cooperate in the alternative arrangement till the road is restored. Apart from this, those going to office and school should also cooperate with the new traffic system. Apart from this, people should ensure to leave for their destination in advance.
