Himachal Weather: Orange alert for heavy rain in some districts of the state on 22 and 23 July
The Meteorological Department has predicted an increase in rainfall during the next three to four days and has issued an orange alert for heavy rain at some places in the districts on 22 and 23 July.
Shimla, 19 July: The pace of rain in Himachal Pradesh remains very slow. So far, 40 percent less clouds have rained than normal during the rainy season. After that, there will be a decrease in monsoon by the end of July. During the last 24 hours, Nahan has recorded 63.9 mm rain, Kandaghat 48.0 mm, Dhaula Kuan 39.5 mm, Pachhad 27.3 mm and Shimla 26.4 mm rain.
According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon is expected to pick up pace in the beginning of August. Director of Meteorological Center Shimla, Surender Paul, said that there is a possibility of increase in rainfall in the state for the next three to four days, for which the department has issued an alert. He said that four districts of the state, Shimla, Mandi, Kangra and Bilaspur have received normal rainfall while the rest of the areas have recorded less than normal rainfall. The least rainfall has occurred in Lahaul Spiti, Sirmour, Solan and Una.
He said that the monsoon will be less effective in the month of July, while the monsoon is expected to pick up speed in the beginning of August. This time there has been a decrease in the western disturbance and the winds coming from the Bay of Bengal, due to which the rainfall in the mountains is decreasing.
