Himachal News: 36 roads closed due to landslides and debris, Kangra district recorded the highest rainfall of 75 mm
Shimla, July 02: Monsoon has taken a fierce form in Himachal Pradesh with an orange alert. Heavy rains have been falling in Kangra, Bilaspur, Una and Mandi districts of the state since late night.Heavy rains have started creating havoc in the state and incidents of debris and landslides have been reported at many places.
Due to heavy rains in Mandi district, roads got closed due to landslides at many places. Due to this, common people have to face a lot of problems. Apart from this, there is a blackout due to transformer failure at many places. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rain in the plains and mid-mountain areas of the state in the next 24 hours and has asked the local people as well as tourists to remain alert. Tourists have been instructed not to go near landslide-prone areas and rivers and streams. Heavy rain has been predicted in the state till July 6.

According to the report of the State Disaster Management Authority, 36 roads are closed in Himachal Pradesh due to landslides and debris till Tuesday morning. Out of these, 35 roads are blocked in Mandi district and one in Chamba.
13 roads are blocked in Gohar subdivision of Mandi district, 11 in Karsog, 10 in Sainj and one in Sundarnagar.Traffic is also halted on a road in Indora subdivision of Kangra district.
Due to heavy rains and lightning, 169 transformers have stopped working in Himachal Pradesh. The maximum number of transformers (77) are non-functional in Una district, 68 in Mandi and 24 in Chamba.
Rain recorded here: According to the report of the Meteorological Department, the highest rainfall of 75 mm has been recorded in Kangra district since last Monday night. Apart from this, 41 mm rainfall was recorded in Barthi, 30 mm in Dharamshala, 29 mm in Sainj, 20 mm in Una, 16 mm in Mandi and 10 mm in Bilaspur.
Tourist movement also reduced in hill stations: With the onset of monsoon in Himachal, a huge decline has been recorded in the movement of tourists. Occupancy of hotels has decreased in the major hill stations of the state, Shimla, Chail, Dalhousie, Manali and Kasaul etc. Occupancy of hotels in the capital Shimla has decreased from 85 percent to 60 percent.
